Using ReliaRing on an iPad or Android Tablet

Updated July 22, 20263 views0 found helpful

Run ReliaRing on a tablet as a roomy softphone at your desk or around the office — installation, sign-in, and what works best on the bigger screen.

A tablet makes a comfortable, roomy business phone — great on a desk, a reception counter, or carried around a shop floor. This guide covers running ReliaRing on an iPad or Android tablet.

Two ways to use ReliaRing on a tablet

  1. The mobile app — install the ReliaRing app from the tablet's app store, the same as on a phone. Best for calling, because it can receive calls in the background and wake the tablet when one arrives.
  2. The web portal — sign in to the portal in the tablet's browser for account tasks, settings, and the browser softphone. Handy on a tablet with a keyboard.

For everyday calling, use the app.

Install the app on a tablet

  • iPad: open the App Store, search ReliaRing, and tap Get. Requires iPadOS 14 or later.
  • Android tablet: open the Google Play Store, search ReliaRing, and tap Install. Requires Android 8 or later.

Then sign in with your ReliaRing email and password, and allow microphone and notification access — see Setting Up the ReliaRing App on iPhone and iPad or Setting Up the ReliaRing App on Android for the full permission walkthrough.

Make the most of the bigger screen

  • Use a headset or the tablet's speaker. For hands-free calls at a desk, a good speakerphone position or a Bluetooth headset works well.
  • Keep it plugged in at a fixed station like a reception desk so it's always ready.
  • Prop it up. A stand keeps the dialer and incoming-call screen visible at a glance.

Tablets on Wi-Fi only

Many tablets don't have a cellular connection, so they rely entirely on Wi-Fi. Keep the tablet on strong, stable Wi-Fi for reliable calls, and see Getting the Best Call Quality on Mobile if audio gets choppy.

Keep calls ringing

Just like on a phone, allow the app to run in the background and keep notifications on so incoming calls ring even when the screen is off. See Battery Settings So the App Keeps Ringing and Push Notifications for Mobile Calls and Messages.

A tablet at reception makes a tidy, low-cost business phone — pair it with a headset and keep it charging, and it's ready all day.
