Push notifications are what let the ReliaRing app alert you to an incoming call or message even when the app is closed or your phone is locked. When they're set up correctly, your business phone rings just like a normal call. When they're not, calls can go silently to voicemail. This guide explains how they work and how to fix them.
How it works
Instead of the app running constantly in the background (which would drain your battery), your phone's own notification system "wakes" the app the instant a call or message arrives. That's why granting notification permission is the single most important setup step.
Make sure notifications are on
iPhone / iPad
- Open Settings → ReliaRing → Notifications.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
- Enable sounds and banners so calls are hard to miss.
Then check that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing ReliaRing — you can allow ReliaRing as an exception in your Focus settings.
Android
- Open Settings → Apps → ReliaRing → Notifications.
- Turn notifications on, including the call and message categories.
- Make sure Do Not Disturb isn't blocking them, or allow ReliaRing as an exception.
If calls stop ringing
Work through these in order:
- Confirm notifications are allowed (steps above).
- Check Do Not Disturb / Focus isn't silencing the app.
- Allow background activity. On Android especially, battery savers can stop the app from being woken — see Battery Settings So the App Keeps Ringing.
- Check your connection. The app needs internet (Wi-Fi or data) to receive calls.
- Reopen the app and make sure you're still signed in.
- Update the app to the latest version.
- Restart your phone — this re-registers the app for notifications and fixes many stubborn cases.
Signing in on a new phone
When you install the app on a new device and sign in, notifications register automatically. If you replaced your phone and calls aren't coming through on the new one, open the app on the new device, confirm you're signed in, and send yourself a test call.
A silent phone is almost always a notifications or battery-optimization setting, not a fault with your number. The steps above resolve the large majority of "my calls aren't ringing" reports.
