Video Meetings let you host and join face-to-face video calls right in your web browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to install — you open a link and you are in.
To get started, go to Video Meetings in the portal.
Three ways to begin
On the Video Meetings overview you will see three quick actions:
- Start Instant Meeting — click Start Now to open a meeting immediately and jump straight into the room. Great for "hop on a quick call" moments.
- Schedule Meeting — plan a meeting for later and invite people ahead of time. See "Inviting Guests to a Video Meeting".
- Join a Meeting — paste a meeting link or code and click Join to enter someone else's meeting.
You can also click New Meeting at the top of the page to set one up.
Joining a meeting
- If you have a link, open it and you will land on the meeting.
- If you were given a code, paste it into the Join a Meeting box and click Join.
- Meetings that are happening right now appear under Live Now — click Join next to one.
- Your upcoming and past meetings live under the My Meetings tab.
Getting set up before you join
The first time you join, your browser will ask permission to use your camera and microphone. Click Allow. You can turn your camera or mic off at any time once you are in.
Controls inside the meeting
While you are in a meeting, the toolbar gives you everything you need:
- Mute / unmute your microphone.
- Start / stop your camera.
- Share your screen to present a document, slide deck, or app.
- Chat — send text messages to everyone in the meeting.
- Participants — see who is in the room.
- Record — capture the meeting (if recording is enabled).
- Full screen — expand the video to fill your display.
- Leave — hang up when you are done.
Hosts and participants
The person who starts a meeting is the host. Everyone else joins as a participant. The host manages the meeting — admitting people from the waiting room, recording, and ending the meeting for everyone.
Recordings
If a meeting is recorded, the recording is saved for later. Find recordings under the Recordings tab on the Video Meetings page.
Tips for a smooth start
- Use a modern browser and give it camera and microphone permission.
- Test your camera and mic before an important call.
- A wired internet connection gives the steadiest video. See "Tips for Better Video Meetings".
