Joining a Conference Bridge

Updated August 30, 20261 views0 found helpful

How to dial into a conference bridge from a desk phone, softphone, mobile or outside line — and what each prompt means.

There are three ways into a bridge. Which one you use depends on where you are calling from.

From a phone on your ReliaRing account

Dial *33 followed by the bridge's six-digit join code. For example, for join code 379625 you dial *33379625.

This works from a desk phone, the browser softphone, or a mobile handset registered to your account.

From a phone on your account, using the extension

If whoever set up the bridge gave it a conference extension — something like 3001 — you can simply dial that instead. Not every bridge has one; the join code always works.

From outside your business

If the bridge has a phone number assigned to it, dial that number like any other call.

What happens when you get in

  1. A PIN prompt, if the bridge requires one. Enter the PIN you were given, then #.
    • The participant PIN puts you in as an attendee.
    • The moderator PIN puts you in as a moderator, with control of the room.
    • You get three attempts. After the third, the call ends and you will need to dial again.
  2. A recording notice, if the bridge records. You will hear "This conference is being recorded. If you do not consent, please hang up now." Hang up if you do not want to be recorded.
  3. Hold music, if the bridge is set to wait for a moderator. You will stay on music until one joins. If no moderator arrives within ten minutes you will be told the host did not join, and the call will end.
  4. You are placed in the room. If the bridge mutes people on entry, you will be muted — press 0 to unmute yourself.

Keys you can press during the call

The conference uses the standard telephone keypad controls:

  • 0 — mute and unmute yourself
  • 1 / 3 — turn your own speaking volume down and up
  • 4 / 6 — turn what you hear down and up
  • #hang up. Press it by accident and you will leave the call.

If you cannot get in

  • "The conference is full" — the room has reached its participant limit. Someone has to leave first.
  • Wrong PIN three times — the call ends. Check the PIN and dial again.
  • Nothing happens when you dial *33 and the code — check you are calling from a phone registered to your ReliaRing account. *33 only works on-net; from an outside line you need the bridge's phone number.
