Conference Bridges (Dial-In Audio Conferences)

Updated July 22, 20261 views0 found helpful

Set up an audio conference room people dial into by phone. Covers creating a bridge, dial-in numbers, PINs, and moderator controls.

A conference bridge is an audio-only meeting room that people join by dialing in from a phone. Unlike a video meeting, there is no camera — just a shared phone call for as many people as you need. Bridges are perfect for team standups, board calls, and any time voice is all you need.

To manage them, go to Conference Bridges in the portal.

What you can see at a glance

The Conference Bridges page shows all your bridges, how many are active right now, how many people are connected, and which bridges are recording. Each bridge lists its dial-in number, whether a PIN is required, and how many participants are in it.

Create a conference bridge

  1. Go to Conference Bridges and click New Bridge.
  2. Step 1 — Basic Info:
    • Conference Name — a label for your reference, for example "Sales Team Weekly".
    • Maximum Participants — from 10 up to 200.
    • Conference Number (Dial Extension) — the number people dial to join, for example 3001. Click Generate for one automatically, or leave it blank to have one assigned.
  3. Step 2 — Access Control:
    • Turn Require PIN to Join on or off.
    • Set a Participant PIN (for regular attendees) and a Moderator PIN (for the host). Click Generate PINs to create them automatically.
  4. Step 3 — Settings: choose your options (see below), then click Create Conference Bridge.

Bridge settings

  • Record by Default — automatically record every session.
  • Allow Recording — let moderators start and stop recording during a call.
  • Wait for Moderator — participants wait on hold until a moderator joins.
  • Mute on Entry — everyone joins muted, which keeps big calls quiet.
  • Announce Join/Leave — play a tone when someone enters or leaves.

How people dial in

Participants join by dialing the conference number from a phone on your ReliaRing system — a desk phone, the browser softphone, or any registered device.

  • Enter the PIN when prompted, if one is required.
  • To join as a regular participant, dial *33 followed by the conference number.
  • To join as a moderator, dial *34 followed by the conference number, then enter the moderator PIN.

Share the dial-in details

Give attendees everything they need in one message, for example:

Conference dial-in Dial: 3001 PIN: 1234 (if required)

Moderator controls

Moderators run the call. From the portal, on an active bridge you can:

  • Mute all participants at once, or mute and unmute individuals.
  • Remove a participant from the call.
  • Start or stop recording (when allowed).
  • End the conference for everyone.

Keep your moderator PIN private and share only the participant PIN with attendees — the moderator PIN grants full control of the call.

Recordings

Recorded sessions are saved and available under the Recordings tab on the Conference Bridges page.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot join: double-check the conference number and PIN, and confirm the bridge exists.
  • Stuck waiting: if the bridge has Wait for Moderator turned on, participants are held until a moderator dials in.
  • Everyone sounds muted: if Mute on Entry is on, participants stay muted until they unmute themselves or a moderator unmutes them.
