A conference bridge is an audio meeting room people join by dialling in from a phone. There is no camera and nothing to install — just a shared call. Bridges suit standups, board calls, and any time somebody might be driving.
Go to Conference Bridges in the portal to manage them.
A bridge is permanent
A bridge is not a scheduled meeting. It exists all the time and is always reachable. There is no start time, no end time and no calendar entry — you create it once and use it whenever you like.
What you see at a glance
The Conference Bridges page lists your bridges, how many are active right now, how many people are connected, and which are recording. Each bridge shows how people reach it and whether a PIN is required.
Create a conference bridge
- Go to Conference Bridges and click New Bridge.
- Step 1 — Basic Info:
- Conference Name — a label for your reference, for example "Sales Team Weekly".
- Maximum Participants — the ceiling for that room.
- Conference Number (Dial Extension) — optional. An internal extension such as 3001. You do not need one; see below.
- Step 2 — Access Control:
- Turn Require PIN to Join on or off.
- Set a Participant PIN and a Moderator PIN, 4 to 8 digits each. Click Generate PINs to create them for you.
- Step 3 — Settings: choose your options, then click Create Conference Bridge.
Every bridge gets a join code
When you create a bridge, ReliaRing generates a permanent six-digit join code. Anyone on your account reaches the bridge by dialling *33 followed by that code — for example *33 379625.
The join code is deliberately kept outside your extension numbering, so it can never clash with an extension, a ring group or a call queue. It cannot be changed, and it means a bridge always has a way in even if you never give it an extension.
Three ways people get in
- *33 plus the six-digit join code — from any phone on your account.
- The conference extension, if you set one — also from a phone on your account.
- A phone number assigned to the bridge — for people outside your business.
All three behave identically once the call arrives: the same PIN prompt, the same role decision, the same capacity check.
Bridge settings
- Record by Default — record every session. Callers hear a spoken recording notice before they are placed in the room.
- Allow Recording — let a recording be started during a call.
- Wait for Moderator — participants hold on music until a moderator joins. If no moderator arrives within ten minutes, callers are told the host did not join and the call ends.
- Mute on Entry — participants join muted. Moderators are never muted on entry.
- Announce Join/Leave — plays "You are now joining the conference." to the person joining. It does not control the short tones the room plays when someone enters or leaves; those always play.
Share the details
Give attendees everything in one message, for example:
Conference dial-in From your ReliaRing phone: *33 379625 From outside: (613) 555-0142 PIN: 1234
Share only the participant PIN with attendees. The moderator PIN grants full control of the call — keep it private.
What a bridge does not do
- No scheduling and no invitations. Bridges are permanent rooms; ReliaRing does not send a calendar invite or an email for them.
- No dial-out. The system does not ring people to bring them into a conference — everyone dials in.
- No video. For video, use Video Meetings instead.
- No mid-call promotion. Someone who joined as a participant cannot be made a moderator during the call.
