The fastest way to send a fax is straight from the ReliaRing portal. You upload a document, enter the recipient's fax number, and we take care of the rest. This guide walks through every field on the Send Fax window.
Before you start
- You need at least one active ReliaFax line. If you do not have one, go to Fax → Inbox and click Add Fax Line.
- Have your document ready as a PDF or TIFF file, up to 50 MB. Uploading in the portal accepts PDF or TIFF only. If your document is a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, use Send a fax by email instead — email-to-fax converts those formats for you automatically.
Send a fax
- Go to Fax → Inbox.
- Click Send Fax in the top-right corner.
- Fill in the fields:
- To (Fax Number) — the recipient's fax number, with country code.
- From (Your Fax Number) — pick which of your fax lines to send from.
- Subject — an optional label to help you find the fax later. It is for your records.
- Resolution — Standard is fine for most documents. Choose Fine or Super Fine for small print, detailed forms, or images.
- Priority — Low, Normal, or High. This affects the order faxes are processed when several are queued.
- (Optional) Expand Cover Page to add a professional cover sheet. See Fax cover pages for details.
- Under Document, drag your file in or click Choose a file. Only PDF and TIFF are accepted.
- Click Send Fax.
What to expect
Your fax appears in the Outbox tab with a status:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Queued and waiting to send |
| Processing | Actively dialing and transmitting |
| Completed | Delivered successfully |
| Retrying | The line was busy or dropped; we are trying again automatically |
| Failed | Could not be delivered after all retries |
When a fax reaches Completed, you can open it with the View button or save a copy with Download. If a fax Failed, a Retry button lets you try again without re-uploading.
Tips for a clean send
- Black-and-white documents fax most reliably. Color and heavy photos can slow things down or lose detail.
- Confirm the number is a fax line, not a voice number. A voice number will never answer with a fax tone.
- Keep it readable — high-contrast text and standard letter or A4 page sizes transmit best.
Where received faxes go
Faxes sent to your number arrive in the Inbox tab and in the matching fax mailbox. Turn on email delivery so a PDF copy also lands in your inbox — see Receiving faxes and fax mailboxes.
