Adding Another Fax Line

Updated July 26, 20264 views0 found helpful

Every fax number is its own subscription with its own page allowance. Here is how to add a second line and what it changes on your bill.

Each fax number you have is its own subscription, with its own plan and its own monthly page allowance. Adding a second number means adding a second subscription — the allowances do not combine.

Why that matters on your bill

If you have two Starter lines, you have two lots of 100 included pages, one per number. Sending 150 pages from one line and 20 from the other means the first line goes into overage while the second still has 80 pages unused. Allowances do not pool across lines.

If most of your faxing goes out on one number, it is usually cheaper to move that number to a bigger plan than to add another line.

Add a line

  1. Go to Fax → Inbox and click Add Fax Line.
  2. Choose a plan.
  3. Choose where the number comes from:
    • A new number — search available numbers by area code and pick one.
    • Transfer a number you already have — see Transferring a Fax Number to ReliaRing.
    • A number already on your account — turn an existing ReliaRing number into a fax line.
  4. Complete checkout. The line activates and a fax mailbox is created for it.

Choosing a number

You can search for local numbers by area code, or for toll-free numbers. Toll-free is a type of number, not a separate plan — any plan can have one.

After it is active

  • The new number appears in Fax → Inbox and has its own mailbox under Fax → Mailboxes.
  • Set who can use it — see Who can see and send faxes.
  • If you have several lines, choose which one email-to-fax sends from under Settings → Fax.

Changing or cancelling a line

Open the line and change its plan at any time. Upgrades apply right away; downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Cancelling a line stops its subscription — faxes you have already received stay available to download.
