Not every business is ready to move its phone service. You might keep your numbers with your current provider but still want reliable, well-managed 911 registration behind them. That is exactly what the standalone E911 product from ReliaRing is for.
With standalone E911, your calling stays where it is today. What you get from us is the emergency side: a validated address on file for each number, the ability to keep it current, on-site alerts when someone dials 911, and the same compliance tools our full phone-system customers use.
When this is the right fit
- You want to keep your existing numbers and calling provider for now.
- You need a dependable, auditable way to register and update 911 addresses.
- You have numbers across multiple sites and want one place to manage their emergency locations.

How it works
Standalone E911 uses the same Emergency Dialing tools as the rest of the platform:
- Add your emergency locations. Go to Emergency Dialing → Locations & Registrations and add each physical address, then validate it. Emergency addresses must be a real street address in Canada or the United States.
- Register each number. On the Registrations tab, create a registration that ties a phone number to the correct location, then activate it. The active registration is what determines the address delivered on a 911 call.
- Set up alerts. Add notification groups so your on-site staff are alerted whenever a 911 call is placed.
- Confirm it works. Run a 933 test to hear your registered address read back.
Each active registration is a billable emergency endpoint. Check Billing → Rate Lookup for the current monthly amount.
Getting your external numbers into the system
To register a number for E911, that number needs to be on your ReliaRing account first. If a number you keep with another provider is not showing up when you create a registration, contact our team and we will help you add it so you can complete the setup.
Important limits to understand
Standalone E911 manages the registration and dispatch address for your numbers. It does not carry your everyday calls — those still run through your other provider. Because of that:
- The way each number reaches 911 depends on how it is routed by your provider and how it is connected to us. Our team will confirm your setup during onboarding.
- The same internet-based 911 limitations still apply: responders go to the registered address, and service depends on power and connectivity. Review How 911 Works on an Internet Phone Service.
- Always keep another way to reach emergency services, such as a mobile phone.
