Transferring a number carries a one-time fee per number. There is no recurring charge for a transferred number beyond whatever your service already costs.
What it costs
The fee depends on the number's country. In Canadian dollars:
| Where the number is | Fee per number |
|---|---|
| Canada | $20 |
| United States | $20 |
| Most of Western Europe | $40–$60 |
| Australia, New Zealand | $50–$55 |
| Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel | $60–$75 |
| Mexico, Brazil, South Africa | $50–$65 |
You are always shown the exact amount for your numbers before you pay — the wizard's Payment step displays the fee, any discount, and the total, in your account's billing currency.
Ten or more numbers
Put 10 or more numbers on a single transfer and 25% comes off the whole porting subtotal automatically. You do not need a code and there is nothing to ask for. Splitting the same numbers across several smaller transfers loses the discount, so if you know you are moving a block, put them on one order.
How you pay
Which panel you see on the Payment step depends on how your account is billed:
By card. A payment form appears with the exact amount, for example "Pay $20.00 & submit transfer". Your transfer is sent to the carrier the moment the payment succeeds.
On your invoice. If your account is billed in arrears, there is no card form. Instead you see "No card required — this one-time porting fee will be added to your next invoice", a checkbox acknowledging it, and a Submit transfer button. Ticking the box and submitting sends the transfer immediately; the fee appears on your next invoice.
Waived. Occasionally a transfer carries no fee. You will see "No payment required — your porting fee is waived" and a Submit transfer button.
Why the transfer waits for payment
Your transfer is not sent to the carrier until the fee is settled — paid, invoiced or waived. If you leave the wizard at the Payment step, the transfer sits as a draft and nothing happens. Come back to Phone Numbers → Porting, open the request, and finish the payment step to release it.
If you see "Porting payment must be completed before submission", that is what has happened.
Refunds
The fee covers preparing and submitting the order to the carrier, which happens as soon as you submit. If a transfer is rejected for something correctable, we resubmit it at no extra charge — you are not charged twice for the same numbers. If you need to discuss a fee on a transfer that could not proceed at all, contact support.
