Adding and Removing Phone Lines

Updated July 22, 20261 views0 found helpful

How adding phone numbers and lines affects your bill, and what happens when you cancel one — including the end-of-cycle, non-refundable rules.

Adding or removing phone numbers and lines changes what you pay. This guide explains the billing side so there are no surprises.

Adding a number or line

When you add a phone number or a new line, it becomes a subscription item billed on a recurring cycle, plus any one-time setup fee.

  1. To add a number, go to Phone Numbers → Buy Numbers and complete the purchase.
  2. The new item appears on Billing → Subscriptions with its price, quantity, and next billing date.

Because each item is billed separately with its own quantity, you only pay for what you add.

Removing a number or line

You can cancel a number when you no longer need it. A few important rules apply:

  • Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle. The number keeps working until then.
  • Setup fees and monthly fees are non-refundable. Canceling partway through a cycle doesn't refund that cycle.
  • Once the cycle ends, the number stops billing and is released.

To cancel, open the item on Billing → Subscriptions and use the cancel action, or cancel the number from Phone Numbers → Your Numbers.

If you might want to keep a number, consider whether you still need it before the cycle ends — released numbers can't always be recovered.

Porting a number out

If you're moving a number to another provider, that's a transfer (port-out), which is different from canceling. Start it from your other provider, and keep the number active with us until the transfer completes so you don't lose service.
