Your numbers are yours. If you decide to move one to another provider, you can — and we will not make it difficult.
How it works
A transfer away is started by your new provider, not by you and not in the ReliaRing portal. That is how number transfers work everywhere: the gaining provider requests the number from the losing provider on your behalf.
So the process is:
- Sign up with your new provider.
- Give them the details they need (below).
- They submit the transfer request.
- We receive it and release the number.
There is no button in the portal for this, because there is nothing for you to submit.
What your new provider will ask you for
Have these ready — the transfer will be rejected without them, exactly as it would going the other way:
- The numbers you want to move, in full.
- Your ReliaRing account number, from your invoice or Account Settings.
- The account holder name and billing address exactly as they appear on your ReliaRing account. If they have drifted from reality, correct them in the portal before your new provider submits.
- A recent ReliaRing invoice, downloadable from Billing.
You will sign a Letter of Authorization for your new provider, the same way you would have signed one with us.
Tell us first
You do not have to, but it helps. Contact support and let us know a transfer away is coming. We will confirm the exact account details your new provider needs, so the request does not bounce on a mismatched field.
What happens on your account
When the transfer completes, the number is removed from your ReliaRing services automatically — call routing, voicemail, fax and emergency calling for that number end at that point.
Anything attached only to that number stops working. If the number was the destination for a call flow, a voice menu option, or an emergency address registration, review those before the transfer date and point them somewhere else.
Billing for the number stops at the end of the cycle in which it left. Transferring a number away does not close your account — if you have other numbers or services with us they continue unaffected. Closing the account is separate.
Do not cancel your ReliaRing service first
The same rule applies in this direction. If you close the service before the number has moved, the transfer fails and the number can be lost. Let the transfer complete, then close anything you no longer need.
