Getting a new number takes just a few minutes. This walkthrough follows the Buy Numbers wizard from start to finish.
Before you start
- You'll need permission to make purchases on your account (an admin or a user with billing access).
- Have a payment method ready: a credit card, or funds in your prepaid Wallet.
Step 1: Open the number search
Go to Phone Numbers → Buy Numbers. The page opens on a four-step wizard: Country → Type → Select → Checkout. You can see your progress in the step indicator at the top.
Step 2: Choose a country
Pick where you want your number:
- Use the search box to find a country by name or dialing code.
- Or filter by region (North America, Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa).
- Popular countries appear at the top for quick access.
Countries marked Instant activate right away. Countries marked with a document icon require paperwork first (more on that below).
Step 3: Pick a number type and search
Choose the type you want — Local, Toll-Free, National, Mobile, or Premium (the available types depend on the country).
Then narrow your search:
- By location: choose a state or province, then a city, then an area code. This is the easiest way to get a number for a specific place.
- By area code: type an area code directly.
- By pattern: search for numbers that contain a specific sequence of digits — handy for finding easy-to-remember or vanity-style numbers.
ReliaRing shows a list of available numbers that match. If nothing comes up, try a broader area or a different area code.
Step 4: Select your number(s)
Click any number to add it to your order. You can select more than one at a time. Selected numbers are totaled for you, including monthly price and any one-time setup fee.
If your plan includes free local numbers, an eligible number will show that a plan credit is being applied, so it won't add to your bill.
Step 5: Check out
On the Checkout step:
- Choose how to pay — credit card or your Wallet balance.
- If the country requires documents (for example, proof of business or address), upload them here. You'll see exactly which documents are needed.
- Review the order total. Taxes are shown where they apply.
- Confirm your purchase.
Step 6: Activation
After payment, ReliaRing provisions your number on our network. For most countries this finishes in under five minutes, and you'll watch each number move to Completed. Countries that require documents can take a little longer while the paperwork is reviewed.
Once a number is active, it appears under Phone Numbers → Your Numbers, ready to route to an extension, ring group, voice menu, or wherever you need it.
Troubleshooting
- No numbers found: widen your search — pick the state or province instead of a single city, or try a nearby area code.
- Payment didn't go through: check your card details or top up your Wallet, then try again.
- A number won't finish activating: give it a few minutes. If it stays stuck or shows as failed, contact support and we'll sort it out — you won't be charged for a number that fails to provision.
