Do Not Disturb stops calls reaching you and shows colleagues that you are unavailable.
Turning it on
Click your status in the portal header and choose Do Not Disturb. Choosing any other status turns it off again.
How it differs from Busy
They look similar but do different things:
- Busy is a signal to colleagues. It is usually set automatically when a call connects.
- Do Not Disturb is a signal and an instruction. It changes how calls are handled, not just how you appear.
If you want to be left alone, choose Do Not Disturb rather than Busy.
Turning it off
Pick any other status. Do Not Disturb can also be set to end at a particular time, in which case it clears itself.
On a desk phone
Desk phones have their own Do Not Disturb, which is reflected in the system. Setting it in one place is enough — you do not need to set it in both.
What it does not do
- It does not silence a call already in progress.
- It does not stop SMS. Messages still arrive.
- It does not redirect calls to a colleague. For that, use call forwarding or a ring group.
