This guide covers the most common voicemail problems and how to fix them. Almost everything below lives in one place: Settings → Voicemail.
Common problems at a glance
| Problem | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Messages are not being recorded | Confirm voicemail is enabled |
| No email when someone leaves a message | Check your notification settings and spam folder |
| You cannot get into your mailbox | Reset your voicemail PIN |
| No written version of the message | Turn on transcription |
| The wrong greeting plays | Set your active greeting |
Messages are not being recorded
- Go to Settings → Voicemail and make sure voicemail is switched on.
- Leave yourself a test message: call your number from another phone, let it go to voicemail, and speak.
- Check whether the message appears in Voicemail in the portal.
If a caller never reaches voicemail at all, the call may be going somewhere else first - see Incoming Calls Aren't Reaching You.
You are not getting notified
- Open your notification preferences under Settings → Notifications and confirm voicemail email is turned on with the correct address.
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Add noreply@reliaring.com to your contacts so future messages land in your inbox.
Under Settings → Voicemail you can also choose to attach the audio file to the email and include the transcription text.
You cannot access your mailbox
- From the portal: open Voicemail in the menu and click any message to play it - no PIN needed while you are signed in.
- From a phone: dial
*97from your own extension and enter your PIN. - Forgot your PIN? Go to Settings → Voicemail and set a new PIN.
No transcription
Turn on transcription under Settings → Voicemail. New messages will then include a written version. Keep in mind that very short messages, background noise, or strong accents can lower transcription accuracy.
The wrong greeting plays
Under Settings → Voicemail you can record or upload greetings for different situations (for example, your standard "unavailable" greeting, a "busy" greeting, or a temporary vacation greeting) and choose which one is active. If no greeting is set, callers hear a default system greeting.
