When a forwarded call is not answered, ReliaForward can take a message and email it to you, so you never lose a lead. Set this up on a number's Voicemail tab (Call Forwarding → Numbers → pick a number → Voicemail).
Turn on voicemail
Flip Voicemail on. Callers who reach voicemail can leave a message; with it off, unanswered calls are simply declined after your ring timeout.
Get voicemails by email
Enter an address under Send Voicemail Notifications To and each new message is emailed to you — so you can listen from anywhere without dialing in.
Choose a greeting
- Default Greeting — a standard professional message, ready to go.
- Custom Recording — upload your own greeting (MP3, WAV, OGG, or WebM, up to 5 MB). Use Replace to swap it or Remove to go back to the default. You can play back your greeting right on the page.
Voicemail transcription (Business plan)
On the Business plan, voicemails can be transcribed to text so you can read a message at a glance — handy in meetings or noisy places.
Missed-call and voicemail alerts
Prefer a heads-up the moment something is missed? Under Settings → Notifications you can turn on:
- Missed Call Alerts — emailed when a call goes unanswered.
- Voicemail Notifications — emailed when a new voicemail arrives.
- SMS Alerts — add a number to also get critical alerts by text.

- Set a clear greeting that tells callers when you will return their call.
- Point voicemail email to an address a team can monitor, not just one person, so messages get returned quickly.
- Combine voicemail with business hours so after-hours callers always reach a message.
