You do not have to forward calls the same way around the clock. ReliaForward can forward during your open hours and do something different after hours and on holidays. This is available on every plan.
Open a number from Call Forwarding → Numbers, then choose the Business Hours tab.
Turn on business hours
Flip Business Hours on. With it off, calls forward 24/7. With it on, your open-and-closed schedule decides what happens to each call.
Set your weekly schedule
- Pick your Timezone so open and closed times are judged correctly.
- For each day, toggle it open or closed.
- On open days, set the open and close times.
Calls that arrive during open hours follow your normal forwarding. Calls outside those hours are treated as after-hours.
Choose what happens after hours
Set an After-Hours Destination to send off-hours calls to a different number — an on-call mobile, an answering service, or anywhere you like. Leave it blank and after-hours calls go to voicemail (if you have enabled it) or are politely declined.
Add holidays
Under Holidays (Closed Days), add the specific dates your business is closed. Calls on those days are handled as after-hours. To save time, use the Quick add buttons for common holidays, or pick any date with the date picker. Remove a date anytime with the X beside it.
Remember to click Save Changes when you are done.
Tips
- Your timezone here also drives the timestamps you see in call history.
- Keep the holiday list current at the start of each year — quick-add covers the usual dates, and you can add your own closures (staff days, local holidays).
- Pair business hours with voicemail so nothing is lost overnight.
FAQ
What happens to a call already ringing when hours change? In-progress calls continue; only new calls follow the new schedule.
Can I forward differently on weekends? Yes — mark weekend days closed and set an after-hours destination, or leave them to voicemail.
Do holidays repeat automatically? Add the dates you want; review and refresh the list each year.
Is this on every plan? Yes, business-hours and holiday routing is included on Starter, Professional, and Business.
