The ReliaRing web softphone lets you make and receive calls straight from your browser. There's nothing to install.
What you need
- A current web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
- A microphone (built in or external)
- Speakers or headphones
- A steady internet connection
- An active ReliaRing subscription
Open the softphone
- Click the softphone button (the phone icon) in the top bar of the portal.
- The dialer opens in a panel.
- The first time, your browser asks to use your microphone — click Allow.
The softphone shows whether it's connected and ready before you place a call.
Make a call
- Dial pad: Click the on-screen keys, or just type the number on your keyboard — digits, plus star and pound, appear in the dialer. Include the country code for long distance (for example, +1 for the US and Canada). Press Enter or the green call button to dial.
- Click to call: Throughout the portal, phone numbers are clickable. Click one to dial it instantly.
Keyboard tips while the dialer is open: Backspace removes the last digit, Enter places the call, and Escape clears the number.
During a call
Common controls while you're connected:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mute | Turns your microphone off and on |
| Hold | Puts the call on hold |
| Keypad | Sends tones for phone menus (press-1-for-sales) |
| Transfer | Sends the call to another extension |
| End | Hangs up |
Receive a call
When someone calls your number, you'll see a notification with the caller's number (and name, if known). Click Answer or Decline.
Tip: Allow browser notifications so you still see incoming calls when the tab is in the background.
Check your voicemail
From any phone or the softphone, dial *97 to listen to your messages, or *98 to open the voicemail menu (record a greeting, change your PIN). You can also open Voicemail in the sidebar.
