You don't need to be technical to understand how ReliaRing keeps your conversations private. This article explains, in everyday terms, how your calls and data are secured and what you control.
Everything is encrypted in transit
"Encrypted in transit" means information is scrambled while it travels across the internet, so it can't be read if someone intercepts it. On ReliaRing:
- Your calls are protected end to end across our network. The audio is encrypted, and the behind-the-scenes signaling that sets up each call is encrypted too.
- The portal and mobile apps connect over secure, encrypted connections (the same TLS technology that protects online banking, shown by the padlock in your browser).
- Text messages and data you send through ReliaRing travel over those same encrypted connections.
Your stored data is encrypted too
Information we store for you, such as call recordings, voicemails, and account details, is encrypted at rest using strong AES-256 encryption. Even the stored files are unreadable without the keys our systems manage for you.
Call quality and desk phones
Desk phones we provision for you can be set up to use encrypted calling (secure signaling and encrypted audio) so office calls get the same protection as the apps. If you bring your own phones, encryption support depends on the device; our team can advise on the best settings during setup.
Call recording is private, and consent-aware
Recordings are sensitive, so they get extra care:
- Access to recordings is limited to people with the right role on your account.
- Every time a recording is played or downloaded, that access is logged.
- ReliaRing includes consent tools so you can play a recording notice to callers and follow one-party or all-party consent rules for the regions you operate in. Your admin sets these under Account Settings → Compliance.
What you can do
Encryption protects the connection, but your account is only as safe as its logins. To get the full benefit:
- Require multi-factor authentication (Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)).
- Set a sensible password policy and session timeout (Password Policies and Sign-In Protection).
- Limit access to known locations if it fits your business (Restricting Access by IP Address and Location).
